Dale Earnhardt Jr. and IndyCar’s Graham Rahal traded their fire suits for flak jackets on Wednesday.

The National Guard sponsored drivers got together at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana to take part in a re-enlistment ceremony, fire some high-powered weaponry and even fly in a Blackhawk helicopter.

“It never gets old being able to come out here and see these guys in their environment,” Earnhardt said to the Associated Press.

“You get a real understanding of what’s going on behind the scenes, how they train and how they prepare, and what the commitment is all about.”
