One lucky and talented motorcycle rider will earn the opportunity to be a teammate to three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Angelle Sampey at the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta.
As part of its 35th anniversary Season of Celebration, Star Racing has announced a 30-person Riders Challenge where one champion will win a prize package worth more than $25,000 and the chance to compete on the big stage of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
“We want 2015 to be a year to remember at Star Racing,” said Star Racing founder and CEO George Bryce. “This Riders Challenge will give 30 different racers the chance to live their dream with our team at one NHRA event.”
“I wish there had been something like this when I was still dreaming about becoming a champion said Sampey, a graduate of Bryce’s Motorcycle Drag Racing School. “I can’t believe that the winner will be my teammate for one race. It’s going to be a blast.
“This is more than a competition,” she added. “It is a life-changing event. Where else can you learn from a mentor like George Bryce and also get to know the ins and outs of a championship caliber race team up close and persona? I am looking forward to getting to know the 30 riders and seeing if they have what it takes to be a winner.”
“Everyone is a winner when they participate,” added Bryce. “You can’t put a price tag on the information you will receive and being able to get to know Angelle on a personal level and hearing her stories of what it takes to succeed in motorsports is worth the price of admission.”
The riders will be judged Bryce, Sampey, and motorsports marketing expert Rolfe Schnur on a number of skills including bike control, natural talent, public speaking and passion for pursuing their dream.
The competition will take place April 13-21 at Florida’s Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville. The participants will be split into three groups. The two finalists from each group will compete against each other April 22-23 for the grand prize. The winner will race with Star Racing at the NHRA event and test with Sampey prior to NHRA race. They will also receive their own Star Racing Leathers, a $2,500 marketing package, hero cards for the event, press releases, professional photos, and memories to last a lifetime.
“There are only 30 spots,” said Bryce. “Once they are filled they are filled. We are investing a great deal of time and money into the future of our sport. Do you have what it takes to be a champion?”
